My Top 5 Favorite Fit Mom Apps

How many times have you heard “There’s an app for that?” Gotta love technology. It’s simplified our lives in so many ways, including when it comes to staying in shape. With that, I’d like to share my top five favorite apps. These are the ones that I use every.single.day.

  1. MyFitnessPal
As a macro-tracking ninja, this app is my go-to for logging all of my food. Plus, I’m on a 1,050-day streak that I don’t want to break any time soon. The free version is perfect for most people, while I opted for the premium version at $49 per year. The paid version enables me to customize my macros, which makes my life soooo much easier. You can also customize and load your own recipes, save your favorite meals and so much more!

  2. Fit Bit
I’m currently on my third Fit Bit device. I am seriously addicted to it. In addition to having an app on your phone, I have the Fit Bit HR, which allows you to track your heart rate, see your total calories burned, steps taken and resting heart rate. I could write whole article just on Fit Bit. Within the app you can set an alarm to have your device vibrate to wake you up, track your menstrual cycle, log your water and check your sleep cycle and time asleep. Need I say more? If you’re looking for a wearable tracking device, you want to check this out.

  3. Todoist
I am a to-do list junkie. If I don’t have a list going, nothing is getting done. I’ve been using this app for nearly two years and can’t imagine my life without it. It’s free and allows you to keep an ongoing to-do list and assign dates, reminder and even categorize by work, personal, etc. This is so great for those on-the-go to-do’s that always seem to get forgotten.

  4. Strong
When I weight train in the gym, I typically use a good old pen and paper. That was until I discovered this free app. You can add weight training workouts and includes a timer for rest periods in between sets. The best part is when it tells you your personal best or personal record (PR) for exercises. Plus it tracks how long your workout is and what you lifted during your last workout. I love being able to push and challenge myself -- always shooting for those PRs!

  5. Insight Timer
Over the past year I’ve incorporated meditation into my daily routine and it’s been nothing short of a game-changer for me. From being able to cope with stress better to having a clearer head, meditation is where it’s at. The best part is you only need 5-10 minutes each day. This app provides a variety of options for guided meditation or you can use their timer to do your own thing. From gratitude to stress relief, there are hundreds of meditation themes and you can bookmark them to create your own library.
